Newsletter Spring 2008

Welcome

Wolds Way Caravan and Camping will open for the 2008 season on the 1st of March. This will be the start of our fourth full season and we look forward to meeting our regular and new customers alike. We see our job as giving you all a warm welcome, good service, and making your stay an enjoyable one.

Improvements

Once again a number of changes have been made over winter.

Hedge planting is underway both on the site and on our farm. This will be of benefit to both wildlife and campers over the coming year. Our road from the A64 has seem much improvement with the middle third now tarmaced and hopefully another third will receive the same treatment in autumn 2007.

More fencing now provides extra shelter as well as more seclusion to some pitches. We have made some small improvements to the shower and toilet facilities and plans for a second shower/toilet block are also now underway.

Walks

We have created more grass strips around our fields to enhance the existing walks. This, coupled with the nearby Wolds Way and the many miles of public right of way across adjoining farm and woodland make our site probably the best in Ryedale for walking.

Plant a Tree Scheme

Our 'plant a tree on our farm scheme' is still available. For a small fee you can buy a tree to plant on our farm, perhaps in memory of someone or something. We can even plant you a tree to reduce your carbon footprint and help prevent global warming - now there is a first for you!

Pet Lambs

The pet lambs were a real success story, nearly every child on site in April and May had the experience of feeding them milk from a bottle. They are now fully grown sheep living in Wensleydale and if all goes to plan will have lambs of their own in April this year. We will get some more orphan lambs in March or April and hope to issue many more certificates in pet lamb feeding to our younger visitors.

Highland Cattle

Morag and friends are all well, hopefully we will have two more highland calves born in 2008.

Our suckler cows and calves will be next to the site once again waiting for their treat of digestive biscuits. Sprout the Belgium blue bull is also looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Finally a big thank you to all who stayed with us in 2007, we hope to see many of you in 2008. We just hope you enjoy staying with us as much as we enjoy having you to stay.

Regards Derek and Carol
